Opening a training institute is easy to imagine and harder to run well. Here is a practical order of work. Rules change, so confirm each point with the relevant authority.
1. Understand approvals
Skill training in Nepal is overseen by CTEVT (the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training). CTEVT has publicly warned that short skill-based programmes should run only with the Council's prior approval (Edusanjal). Check CTEVT's current affiliation and short-course notices at ctevt.org.np before you advertise courses, and register your business with the relevant local and tax offices.
2. Choose a few courses, not twenty
Start with two or three courses you can teach well, such as basic computer, accounting software or graphic design, and add more once batches fill.
3. Plan batches and schedule
Decide batch size, timings and rooms. Overlapping rooms and teachers is the most common early mistake.
4. Set fees and instalments
Set the full fee and a clear instalment plan before the first admission, plus a refund rule in writing.
5. Keep records from day one
Every enquiry, admission, payment and attendance sheet. It is much easier than rebuilding it later.
6. Issue certificates properly
Numbered certificates that employers can verify protect your reputation.
7. Pick software early
Moving from notebooks to software after 500 students is painful. Institute software built for Nepal covers admissions, fees, attendance, accounts and certificates, in English or Nepali with BS dates. The Free plan lets you start with one staff login at no cost: start free.
